Renate Harrison joined Blackshear Capital & Legal as Of Counsel in February 2007. Renate has over ten yea
rs of experience in commercial and residential real estate equity and debt finance and development. Renate currently represents some of the country's largest multifamily real estate equity investors in the acquisition, management and disposition of their equity interests. Renate provides syndicators, developers and managers of housing projects with a broad range of legal services relating to the acquisition, development, investment, financing, and operation of multi-family housing projects, and she is experienced in the various aspects of affordable housing finance, including: asterpharmacy.com low-income housing tax credits, mortgage restructuring, low-income housing tax-exempt bonds and HUD regulatory compliance. In addition to affordable housing projects, Renate is experienced in conventional residential and commercial real estate finance and development.
From 1999 until 2005, Renate was legal counsel to MMA Financial, where she advised on corporate and real estate matters for a business unit that managed approximately $8 billion of equity capital in over 1,600 low-income housing tax credit properties. Renate was also legal counsel to the team that invested over $300 million of equity capital in more than 75 multifamily real estate properties for one of the industry's largest low-income tax credit investors. Prior to joining MMA Financial, Renate was an attorney at the law firms of Bingham McCutchen LLP and Goulston & Storrs, P.C. There, she represented national lending institutions, including the former Bank of Boston and Citizens Bank, as well as leading developers such as New England Development, in the development and financing of large-scale commerical ventures and commercial and residential real estate projects nationwide.
